Copywrite music deleted from video - help

Just uploaded a video to Youtube and got the following reply.

Your video, Austin Ryan video, may have content that is owned or licensed by Sony Music Entertainment.

So now my hard work is worthless with no music. Even though I paid for it on I-tunes, this makes no difference. Any suggestions? The video is there, but no music. They say I can add approved music, but anyone who knows, videos are sync'd to music and adding different tracks would be impossible.

Ten Thousand Fists by Disturbed
Reptilia by The Strokes

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Sad it happened, I don't think that there is a way to bypass this kind of judgment on YouTube's part.

Maybe you would need to remaster the whole thing and have some track that is not from SONY... That would be possible i think.

How do I find out if music is free to use going forward?

Well, if it's produced by a record label within the past 50 or so years chances are it is still copyrighted. Unless the author specifically authorized the music for the public domain or it is licensed for specific use, you're taking a gamble by using it. Any music that is produced by the Big Four record companies or its subsidiaries is not a good choice if you want to avoid copyright strikes against your account.

Yeah, it's the copyright on the songs, some will be allowed, others won't. You were just unlucky.

I can't remember how to get to it, but when your editing your video you can choose from a certain amount of tracks, That are actually aloud to play on YouTube.

So when your editing your video look for the music tracks you are aloud.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm sure you can do it to edit over a video too.

There are lots of sites where you can find music that is cleared for youtube videos, which avoids any copyright hassles. Here's a link to one of them;
